WINTER TRAINING COHORT

NOVEMBER 2023 - JANUARY 2024

12 WEEKS OF NON-LINEAR SESSIONS, EDUCATIONAL MODULES, & COACHING

  • This program is highly scalable, and climbers aiming to send anywhere from V4 to V10 and 5.12a to 5.14a are likely to benefit.

Both sport and bouldering focused climbers are welcome.

There is guidance on adjustments to make for those with physically demanding jobs such as routesetting or guiding.

  • There are only 15 spaces in this program, and they are first come first serve! Although Taylor will let you know if it doesn’t seem like the program would be a good fit for you.

  • The training cohort runs for 12 weeks. It is split up into three cycles that are each four weeks long. The fourth week each cycle is always a deload week, where the volume of each session is reduced by about half so that your body can recover from all the hard work.

This program is non-linear, meaning that each of the three sessions will have a different goal, and you will concurrently be working towards improved strength, power, and capacity.

There are three sessions per week, with an optional fourth day. Each session is scalable in duration and intensity, and your coach will help you make the best adjustments for optimal workload.

  • This is not your average cookie cutter group plan. While the physical training itself is standardized for the group, it is also highly scalable. There’s also loads of additional knowledge up in here. We don’t really do physical training on its own at Tangent. Each session has potential mental, tactical, mental, and technical components outlined as well, so you can truly get the most out of your time in the gym. This stuff is just as important as putting up big numbers, if not more.

There are modules throughout the program covering mental training aspects, technical drills, tactical approaches, supporting behaviors, and training habits that will help you get the most out of the program. There’s even one with tips on how to best apply your training to the performance season. This is a big oversight for a lot of coaches and athletes. All that training isn’t doing its job if you can’t transfer it to your rock climbing.

Ultimately, the goal is that if you participate in this program you walk away with the tools and confidence to carry it forward into your continued approach to the sport.

  • You should be able to perform this program with access to a bouldering wall, a hangboard, and some weights.

It would be ideal to also have access to a sport wall (if your goal is sport performance), a board (Kilter, Moon, Tension, etc), and a variety of weights (kettlebells, dumbbells, and barbell), but none of these are necessary for the program to be effective.

  • This might be the biggest perk of them all. Entry of this cohort grants you access to Taylor for the duration of the program and an additional month after its conclusion (June thru September).

You’ll get personalized feedback when you enter your sessions into the training log, and can ask whatever questions you have as you move through the program.

  • Program delivered via TrueCoach, which is entirely free and simple to use. This provides a group setting where you can interact with others completing the program on the same timeline as you.

You will retain access to the program for one month following its conclusion. This means you will still have the ability to reference sessions & additional content, as well as seek advice from your coach throughout March as you begin to apply your training to the performance season.

  • Tangent operates on a sliding scale, meaning that for each service, there is a given price range rather than a fixed cost. This allows greater financial accessibility, as you are able to choose a price which feels doable for you.

The scale for this program is $300-$650 USD. Everyone receives the same level of access and attention regardless of their chosen price.

There is no requirement for information on your financial status. If you can comfortably pay near the upper end, great! But if you cannot, absolutely no worries. We trust you to make the right decision for yourself.

    Reach out for payment options.
